Installing the Brother QL1050 printer in PitneyShip, PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel

Important: Do not connect the printer to the computer until told to do so in the instructions below. Connecting the printer too early will cause Windows to install the wrong driver.

Windows installation

1. Close all programs before starting the installation.
2. If the printer is connected to the computer via USB, unplug the USB cable from the printer so that the printer is not connected to the computer.
3. Sign in to the computer with a user account that has Administrator privileges.
4. Go to Brother's Support & Downloads page.
5. Select Downloads.
6. Enter the model number of the printer, QL-1050, and select Search.
7. Select QL-1050.
8. Choose your operating system, then select OK.
9. The printer driver should be listed. Select Printer Driver to download the printer driver.
10. Select Agree to the EULA and Download. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Downloads folder.
11. Go to your Downloads folder and double-click on the downloaded file.
12. If a security warning appears, select Run.
13. In the WinZip Self Extractor box, select Unzip.
    
14. When it says that the files were unzipped successfully, select OK.
    
15. Close the WinZip Self Extractor box.
16. In your Downloads folder, open the qd1050w550bus folder.
17. Double-click on D_SETUP.EXE.
18. Select USB cable and select OK.
    
19. Select Start.
    
20. Connect the USB cable from the Brother QL1050 to the computer and turn the printer on.
21. Select Next.
    
22. The installer may ask you to restart your computer.
    

Mac installation

1. Download the printer driver for your version of Mac OS X. The driver file is compressed in the disk image (.dmg) format.
   • OS X 10.9 and 10.10
   • OS X 10.8
   • OS X 10.6 and 10.7
   • OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.x, and 10.5.x
   • OS X 10.1 to 10.3.8
2. Double-click on the downloaded *.dmg file. A disk image is mounted onto your desktop containing the file Brother***.pkg.
3. Start Brother***.pkg.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the printer driver.

Installing the roll

The only roll that can be used with the Brother QL1050 printer is item number 2F3-P in the Pitney Bowes Online Shop. However, "2F3-P" does not appear anywhere on the roll itself. Instead, the roll shows item number DK-1241.

1. Remove the tape strip from the end of the roll and insert the roll as shown here.
   
2. Feed the roll under the black paper guide and through the feeder until at least an inch of paper is visible on the outside of the feeder.
   
3. Close the lid firmly, making sure each latch is secure.
   
4. Press the Feed button. The roll will wind backward to properly align for the next print.
