Frequent envelope jams on the SendPro MailCenter 2000

Issue
Recurring or frequent envelope jamming.
Cause
- Dirt or residue on the transport deck
- Incorrect envelope thickness setting
- Incorrect mail preparation
Resolution
If you experience envelope jams on your system, follow the steps here to clear the jam and perform the recommended maintenance operations to prevent further jams.
- Clear the envelope jam
- Inspect and clean the feed deck
- Adjust the thickness and width settings
- Prepare the envelopes for the feeder
Clear the envelope jam
- Lift the (a) feed cover and the (b) printer cover and locate the jammed mailpiece(c).
- Prepare the envelopes for the feed deck.
- Pull the top release lever up and to the right.
- Lift up on the lower release lever with one hand and remove the envelope with the other.
Inspect and clean the feeder
- Examine the sealer roller for dirt and residue.
- Fill a water-spray bottle and spray water on a lint free cloth.
- Wipe any dirt or residue off the sealer roller and then close the top release lever and lock it in place.
- Lift up on the (a) W-O-W transport release lever and the (b) printer transport release lever and remove any envelopes from the (c) W-O-W and (d) printer decks.
- Using another damp lint-free cloth clean the (a) printer entrance roller. Use the cloth to wipe down the W-O-W and printer decks.
Adjust the thickness and width settings
- Set the thickness adjustment knob.
- For thicker mailpieces that are greater than 0.375 inches to the maximum of 0.625 inches thick, use a setting of 2.
For postcards and mailpieces that are 0.007 inches to 0.375 inchesthick, use a setting of 1.
- For thicker mailpieces that are greater than 0.375 inches to the maximum of 0.625 inches thick, use a setting of 2.
- Close the feed and printer covers.
- Adjust the (a) side guide on the feeder deck to accommodate the width of the envelope. The space between the envelope and side guide should be approximately (b) 1/16 inch.
Prepare the envelopes for the feed deck.
- Prepare the envelopes for the feed deck.
- Make sure all the envelopes are the same size for a mail run.
- Align the stack of envelopes by tapping the stack on a flat surface.
- Fan the envelope stack.
- Shingle the stack (slant as shown).
- Place the stack on the feed deck with the envelope flaps down and against the rear wall. Make sure the stack is not too high.
