Resolving material feeder paper issues on the DI900 or DI950 FastPac Inserting Systems
This page helps resolve issues that occur in your DI900™ or DI950™ Inserter's Material Feeder area.
For troubleshooting tips, find your problem in the following list of issues:
- Crunching paper or crooked folds
- Frequent material stoppage (sheets and envelopes) in tower feeder during high volume runs
- Crooked or shingled folds in the Pre-fold Accumulation area
TIP: Jams and crooked folds may start in a different area of the machine than where the issue is initially discovered. Check upstream areas of the machine for possible sources of the problem.
Issue: Crunching paper or crooked folds
Possible causes and solutions:
- Misaligned feeder side guides - The guides keep insert material straight as it travels through the system. Over time, the guides may shift and impede insertion. Learn how to recognize and correct insertion stalls .
- Poor material condition - Ensure good material condition to help avoid paper stoppages. Aerate and neatly stack your paper to facilitate separation when feeding. Remove material with warped or flared edges as it can produce misfeeds and jams. Learn how to properly handle and store materials .
- Poor roller condition - Toner build-up or worn edges can diminish the roller’s ability to grasp or drive the material correctly. Visually inspect the roller and clean or replace if necessary.
Issue: Frequent material stoppage (sheets and envelopes) in tower feeder during high volume runs.
Note: This problem only occurs if your mailing envelope is fed from the left side of your machine.
Possible causes and solutions:
- An upstream module issue - This problem may originate in one of the modules before the feeder. Check there first before considering other causes.
- Misaligned feeder side guides - The guides keep insert material straight as it travels through the system. Over time, the guides may shift and impede insertion.
- Poor roller condition - Toner build-up or worn edges can diminish the roller’s ability to grasp or drive the material correctly. Visually inspect the roller and clean or replace if necessary.
- Envelope flap is closed and it should be open - Inspect the jam location to see if the envelopes are sealed. If they are sealed, check to be sure the new envelopes are not pre-sealed in the box. Learn how to adjust the envelope openers on the DI900 and DI950 .
Issue: Crooked or shingled folds in the Pre-fold Accumulation area
Possible causes and solutions:
- Belts come off roller - Open up the cover to properly remove jams. Belts can come off their roller if you remove jams improperly by pulling paper out.
