Sending Certified Mail on the DM300C, DM400C, DM450C and DM475

You can add Certified Mail to First-Class Mail and Priority Mail on the DM300C, DM400C, DM450C and DM475. Retain the tracking number so that you can track the mail.

Certified Mail® is a service that you can add to these mail classes:

First-Class Mail®
Priority Mail®

Certified Mail provides proof of mailing at time of mailing and the date and time of delivery or attempted delivery. You can add a Return Receipt to confirm delivery.

Place the mailpiece on the scale or enter the weight manually.
Select Class.
Select First Class.
Select your mailpiece size.
Select Certified Mail.
If you would like to use the optional Return Receipt service, select Ret Receipt.
Press Enter.
Run the mailpiece through the meter.
Attach the top portion of the certified mail label (Form 3800) at the top of the envelope to the left of the postage, inscription, and meter ad.

Important: Make sure that you record any tracking numbers for your records. You will need a tracking number to track the mailpiece.

If using the optional Return Receipt (Form 3811), attach the Return Receipt to the back of the envelope.
