Creating a route in PitneyTrack Enterprise
Products affected: PitneyTrack® Enterprise
You can define delivery and pickup routes to be run by staff using a mobile device to pick up and deliver mail, packages, or anything else you require. You can specify the time it should take to visit each stop along the route, and can view reports to see if routes are being run within the specified times.
Before you begin, make sure that all of the delivery locations (buildings, floors, and mail stops) you wish to use for the route have been defined in the Inbound Site Framework.
Note: If you need to add a route that's similar to one that already exists, you can copy that route.
- Select Settings > Routes.
- Select the Site for which you wish to create a route.
- If Use Route Management and Reporting is not already selected, select it.
- Select +Add Route.
- Enter a Name for the route.
- Enter a Description for the route.
- Select the Type.
- Select the Frequency with which the route should be run.
- Enter the Number of Stops.
- To require the person running the route to stop at every stop along the route, select Enforce route stop barcode scan. You can print barcodes for each stop along the route which must be scanned when the stop is visited.
- If you want the package location to be automatically filled in with the selected mailstop when the route is run on the mobile device, select Auto-populate mailstop as package location.
- (Optional) Select Add Start End Time and enter the start and end times for the route.
- Select Save or Save and Add Another Route. Next you will add the stops to the route.
Add stops to the route
- Select the arrow next to the desired route to expand it.
- Select Add Stop.
- The Mailstop field will already contain the Site. Click in the field and select the Building.
- Once the Building is selected, the Floors will appear. Select the Floor.
- Once the Floor is selected, the Mailstops appear. Select the Mailstop.
- Enter the number of minutes for this stop in the ETA to Next Stop field. This is in hours and minutes, so for 15 minutes, enter 00:15.
- Select Save and Add Next Stop.
- Repeat steps 3-6 for each stop on the route. The cumulative time will be calculated as you add stops.
- When finished adding stops for this route, select Save and Close.
