Error P2B4C on the DM60

Issue

The error P2B4C appears and the franking machine may not print.

Cause

The printhead may be approaching the end its lifespan or may be defective.

Resolution

Solution 1: Clear the error

1. Press Clear to clear the error.

If you still need help, try Solution 2.

Solution 2: Try restarting your meter

1. Unplug the power lead from the back of your franking machine.
2. Wait one minute.
3. Replace the power lead.

If you still need help, try Solution 3.

Solution 3: Reseat the printhead

1. Press Options.
2. Press Review (Down) until Use ink functions? appears.
3. Press Enter/yes.
4. Press Review (Down) until Install new print head? appears.
5. Press Enter/yes.
6. Open the top cover and wait until the ink assembly moves to the front of the franking machine.
   
7. Press the lock button on the green ink cartridge cover to release the ink cartridge.
   
8. Remove the ink cartridge by angling it towards you while lifting. The cartridge may leak from the bottom. Place it on a tissue.
   
9. Squeeze the latches holding the printhead cover in place and lift the printhead cover.
   
10. Lift the printhead out. Do not discard the printhead.
    
11. Replace the printhead by sliding it into place at a slight backward angle.
    
12. Close the printhead guard, making sure that it clicks into place.
    
13. Re-insert the ink cartridge, angling the cartridge down and back.
    
14. Close the ink cartridge cover. To close it, press down on the green circle nearest to you.
    
15. Close the top cover.
    
16. Press Enter/yes when IMPORTANT: Is ink installed? appears. The franking machine installs ink into the printhead. This may take a few minutes.
17. Insert a tape sheet or envelope to print a test pattern.
18. At the prompt Is test pattern OK?, select the appropriate option:
    1. Press Enter/Yes if your test pattern looks good. You return to the Home screen.
       
    2. Press No if your test pattern is poor .
       
       1. Your franking machine cleans the printer nozzles.
       2. When your franking machine finishes the cleaning, repeat step 17 to run another test pattern. If the print quality is still poor, clean the print nozzles up to three times.
