Updating Canada Post rates on the mailstation series
Learn how to update Canada Post rates on the mailstation and mailstation2.
Products affected: mailstation™ (K7EC) and mailstation2™ (K7C2)
Ensure that your system connects using a SmartLink™ device or PC Meter Connect to communicate with the Pitney Bowes Data Centre.
To update your meter using a lock code, unlock your meter and follow the steps below.
On completion of your meter update there are no further actions required. If the meter is updated before the effective date, it automatically switches to the new rates on the effective date.
Warning! Do not unplug your power cord or remove the network cords from your meter while updating, as this may cause damage to your meter. However, if your meter has been unresponsive for more than 15 minutes:

- Confirm your meter update
Using a SmartLink device (only K7C2)
Meters connected via a SmartLink device update automatically unless a lock code is enabled.To update your meter using a lock code, unlock your meter and follow the steps below.
- Press the Funds key.
- Press the Review down arrow key until you see Check amt available to download?.
- Press Enter/Yes. Your meter connects with the Data Centre and displays various messages as it attempts to connect.
- Review your by PB Postage balance and press Enter/Yes.
- When prompted to Refill Postage?, press No.
- When prompted with New Software available - Update?, press Enter/Yes.
Important: If the update prompt does not appear, the meter may already be up to date or updates are not ready for download. Visit our Rates and Software Updates page for more information
- Your meter displays the status of the download. The download completes in approximately 5 - 10 minutes.
- Wait until the meter prompts Download complete, then press Enter/Yes.
- Press Enter/Yes for each message until the meter returns to the Home screen.
- If the message Connection Required appears, press Enter/Yes, as you have another update to download.
Using PC Meter Connect (only K7C2)
- On the PC running the PC Meter Connect application, double click on the PCMC icon to open the application.
- Select the Updates tab.
- Select Update Software.
Note: If the update prompt does not appear, the meter may already be up to date or updates are not ready for download. Visit our Rates and Software Updates page for more information
- When prompted, select Continue.
- Select Done when the updates complete.
Confirm your meter update
Click on the Confirm Meter Update button to verify that your Canada Post rate update installed successfully:mailstation (K7EC)
mailstation2 (K7C2)

Warning! Do not unplug your power cord or remove the network cords from your meter while updating, as this may cause damage to your meter. However, if your meter has been unresponsive for more than 15 minutes:
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Wait one minute.
- Plug your meter's power cord back in.
- Restart the update process.
