Adding and Editing Namespaces

A namespace along with a feature type name uniquely identifies a feature type. A default namespace (miwfs) is provided in Spatial Manager. A namespace must contain at least one feature type.

To create a namespace for WFS feature types:

  1. From above the feature types tree, click the Add Namespace button .
  2. In the Create New Namespace dialog, enter a URI and a prefix (both of which are required) and click Add. Both values must be unique.
The details page for the namespace appears. Click Edit to make changes, if needed, to the namespace URI and prefix.
  3. Click the Add Feature Types button to add a feature type to this namespace (see Adding WFS Feature Types) or drag and drop feature types to move them from another namespace in the feature types tree. You can also delete any namespace that you create; however, you cannot delete the default namespace.
Note: A namespace cannot be empty. If you create a namespace and do not add feature types to it, the namespace will be removed when you leave the WFS > Feature Types page.
