Define Style Override
While creating a named layer, you can select different display styles. This section explains all three tabs - Point, Line, and Region and their impact on the display style of a named layer.
Point
- Select a Symbol
- Click in Select a symbol. From the resource picker that appears, select a font followed by a character. Click Select.
- Size
- Select or type the value for size.
- Color
- Click in Color. Pick a color from the color picker or type a Hex value for the color you want to display. Click Select.
- Background
- These options set the background of the selected symbol:
- None: Use this option to display no background for the selected symbol.
- Halo: Use this option to display a halo in the background of the selected symbol.
- Border: Use this option to display a black border around the selected symbol.
- Rotation
- Type a value for the rotation angle you want to display.This option is not available for Custom Symbols.
- Effects
- You can enhance the appearance of your symbol on the map. Not all Effects options
are available for every symbol font.
- Bold: Use this option to display the selected symbol in boldface.
- Drop Shadow: Use this option to display a black drop shadow below the selected symbol.
- Show Background: Use this option to display the background of the symbol. This option is available for Custom Symbols Only.
- Apply Color: Use this option to change the color of the custom symbol. This option is available for Custom Symbols Only.
- Display at Actual Size: Use this option to display the custom symbol at its actual size. This option is available for Custom Symbols Only.
Line
- Style
- Click in Style. Pick a line from the resource picker and click Select. If line style pattern is selected as N, then no line is displayed and the color and width options are disabled.
- Color

Note: Color is disabled if the Style is set as N.
- Width

Note: Width is disabled if the Style is set as N.
Region
- Fill Pattern
- Click in Fill Pattern. Pick a pattern from the resource picker and click Select. If you do not want to use a pattern, choose the letter N, for none and the foreground and background color options will be disabled. If you choose the solid black pattern, the background color is disabled.
- Foreground Color

Note: Foreground Color is disabled if the Fill Pattern is set as N.
- Enable Background

Note: Enable Background is disabled if you selected solid fill region pattern or N in the Fill Pattern.Select Enable background to set a background color. If Enable Background is not selected:
- The Background Color remains disabled.
- The background will be transparent.
- Background Color
- Note: Background Color is disabled if the Enable Background is not selected.Click in Background Color. Pick a color from the color picker or type a Hex value for the color you want to display. Click Select.
- Border Style
- Click in Border Style. Pick a line from the resource picker and click Select. If the border style pattern is selected as N, then no border line is displayed.
- Border Color

Note: Border Color is disabled if the border style is set as N.
- Border Width
- You can set the border width in two ways:
- Pixel: Select a width of the line in pixels from the numeric up down.
- Point: Type or select a value.
