Submitting Tax Exempt Certificates



Pitney Bowes is required to collect sales and property tax on the equipment we sell, rent and lease.  If your organization is exempt from paying certain taxes we must have a record of your exemption certificate on file. The exemption form must be for the same physical address where your equipment is located.  Each location must provide separate certificates if locations are in a different city and/or state.


Certificates should be made out to Pitney Bowes and must include your account number and contact information. 


Exemption requests are typically processed in 7 days.  Please note that for leases any account changes will be reflected on the next quarterly lease statement.


Tax exempt certificates can be submitted through the following channels:


  Fax:  Certificates can be expedited by faxing a copy of the tax certificate to 203-749-7599

Determining your account number:
 

  • For sales and rental, there is an 11-digit account number necessary for processing. This number can be found on your invoice, in the shipping confirmation or welcome kit you are sent
     
  • For leases, there is a 7-digit Lease number and 3-digit schedule number necessary for processing. This can be found on your lease invoice
