What are the Inspection Due and Inspection Required messages on my MailstationTM?

USPS regulations require that a meter be inspected. This occurs automatically whenever your  refill your meter or connect to the Data Center to check the balances.

If you do not connect to the Data Center within 90 days, an Inspection Due message appears on your meter.  If the Inspection Due message is not cleared within an additional 30 days, your meter will display the message Inspection Required. At this point, you must connect to the Data Center.

There are two ways to clear the message:

  • A postage refill or
  • Checking the Postage by Phone account balance
