Common settings for your mailstation2

Product Feature, Function and Access point

Lock Code - Prevents unauthorized access to the meter after it has been powered up or has entered sleep mode.

  • Access point: At the meter, press Menu / Change Setup

Low Funds Warning - Sets a warning to alert you when postage funds in the meter reach a specified level. Warns you when it is time to add more postage to the meter.

  • Access point: At the meter, press Menu / Change Setup.  At PC Meter Connect, click My Meter / Meter Settings / Warnings.

High Value Warning - Sets a warning to alert you when you manually enter a postage value higher than a maximum value you specify. This prevents accidental printing of incorrect postage values.

  • Access point: At the meter, press Menu / Change Setup.  At PC Meter Connect, click My Meter / Meter Settings / Warnings.

Defining and Recalling Presets - Similar to a "shortcut" on a PC, a preset recalls defined settings containing postage class and other values, which the meter can "memorize" and apply to commonly repeated tasks.

  • Access point:  At the meter, press Menu / Change Setup / Use preset setup.  At PC Meter Connect, click My Meter / Meter Settings / View Preset or Change Preset.

Sleep Mode - An energy-saving feature that clears the display after a specified time when the meter is idle.

  • Access point: At the meter, press Menu / Change Setup / Change sleep timeout.

Changing a Location Code - The Location Code is used to calibrate the weighing platform to the geographic location.

  • Access point: At the meter, press Menu / Change Setup / Change Location Code?

Advancing the Date - Allows a user to advance the date printed on the meter stamp. Useful for printing after normal business hours to prepare outgoing mail for a future business day's mailing.

  • Access point: At the meter, press Menu / Change data and time settings? / Change printed date?.  At PC Meter Connect, click My Meter / Meter Settings / Date and Time / Print Date.

Clearing a Batch Count - Batch counts allow the meter to keep track of batches of mail by day, week, month, etc. Batch registers (stored reports of batch counts) can be viewed, printed, and cleared or reset as needed.

  • Access point for clearing a batch count: At the meter, press Funds / Reset batch postage and pieces? / Enter/yes.

Checking Postage by Phone Balance - Connect to the Pitney Bowes Data Center to check your Postage by Phone balance:

  1. At the meter, press Funds
  2. Use the Review keys to scroll to "Check amt available to download?" and press Enter/yes.
  3. The mailstation2 will connect to the Pitney Bowes Data Center and display the balance available in your Postage by Phone account:

    Prepaid - amount remaining of the funds that were paid for in advance.
    Other - amount you have left of those funds you established as credit (such as Purchase Power.) If you purchased your postage by credit card, both lines (Prepaid and Other) will be "zero".

  4. Press Clear/Back to return to the main screen.

Add or remove an inscription or ad - You can add and remove ads and inscriptions by pressing Menu on the meter and scrolling to Change Ad? or Change Postal Inscription? and making selections as desired.


Selecting an account - You can select an account by pressing Menu on the meter, selecting Change Account? and then scrolling to select the desired account.
